Egg Dining Chair
Like the Polar Bear sofa, the Egg dining chair draws on the natural world, a recurrent theme in the work of Jean Royère. It also reflects the decorator’s desire to create living spaces that are intimate, protective and playful. Here, the form defined by the padded ring and the shell, the embracing curves and perfect proportions, give the feeling of a refuge. The armchair invites relaxation, while remaining extremely mobile within a space.
This vocabulary of forms and intentions upheld by Jean Royère would subsequently inspire numerous designers, notably during the 1960s and ‘70s.
